Iván Ruiz Moreno.
Ivan Ruiz received his law degree from Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de
México (“ITAM”) one of Mexico’s highest ranking universities. He also has a
Masters of Laws degree from Duke University and a postgraduate degree on
legal, economic and technical aspects of telecommunications. Mr. Ruiz is
admitted to practice law in Mexico.
His legal practice focuses on telecommunications/IT, broadcast, the auto industry, corporate and commercial law in general as well as administrative law and anti-trust. Mr. Ruiz also specializes in foreign investment, mergers and acquisitions and China-Mexico investment and commercial transactions. Prior to joining Borda y Quintana Mr. Ruiz worked as associate at the law firm of González Calvillo & Forastieri where he provided legal counsel in the areas of corporate, telecommunications, energy and anti-trust law as well as mergers and acquisitions. Mr. Ruiz also worked as general counsel for the Mexican and Latin American divisions of NY based telecommunications carrier RSL COM and prior to that, as Deputy Director for Long Distance and Value Added Services at Mexico’s Federal Telecommunications Commission (COFETEL). Other activities include having served as law clerk at the law firm of Larios & Rodríguez del Bosque where he provided legal counsel to French carrier France Telecom, during its time as shareholder of the recently privatized Mexican incumbent operator, TELMEX. Languages Mr. Ruiz is fully bilingual in English and Spanish and has intermediate conversational skills in Mandarin. Mr. Ruiz also has basic conversational and reading skills in French. Memberships. Mr. Ruiz is a Member of the Board of ITAM’s Masters in Laws Program as well as a professor of Telecommunications Law at such university. Mr. Ruiz is currently the President of the Instituto de Derecho de las Telecomunicaciones, A.C.
