NICOLAS BORDA.

Mr. Borda is admitted to practice law in Mexico and in the State of New York, U.S.A. Mr. Borda received his J.D. degree (Licenciado en Derecho) from Universidad Iberoamericana Law School in Mexico City in 1993, and was admitted to practice as an attorney and counselor in New York in 1998. Mr. Borda earned his Masters of Law (LL.M.) degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1994, where he was associate editor of the International Law Journal.

Nicolas Borda worked with a major international law firm in Washington, D.C., and Houston, TX., where he participated in major international energy transactions, including energy privatizations in Latin America, such as YPFB in Bolivia and Petroperú and Electrolima in Perú. Mr. Borda was an advisor to the Ministry of Energy for the privatization of the secondary petrochemical plants of Pemex-Petroquímica during 1997.

Mr. Borda has been a professor of Energy Law at the Universidad Iberoamericana Law School in Mexico City, and frequently publishes articles on energy, infrastructure and international business transactions. Mr. Borda has lectured at many seminars and universities, including the University of Texas at Austin, Georgetown University, Tulane University and ITAM University.

Mr. Borda was named one of the World’s Leading Energy and Natural Resources Lawyers in the Expert Guides of Euromoney Legal Media Group, Best Lawyers and by Chambers & Partners.

Borda y Quintana, S.C., was ranked by Chambers & Partners 2011 as one of only two law firms in Band 1 in energy in Mexico, expressly stating: “Borda stands out for his professional and timely evaluation of risk and is profoundly knowledgeable about his subject. One can entrust him with delicate issues given his close, careful and studious attention to Mexican legislation”.

Mr. Borda is the Chairman of the Energy Committee at the Mexican Bar Association. Also, he is a member of the Board of Directors and was President of the Mexican Academy for Energy Law (AMDE) from 2000 to 2004. Mr. Borda is legal advisor to the Mexican Chapter of the World Energy Council and member of the Advisory Board of the Latin American Law and Business Report.

Mr. Borda is a member of the AIPN, member of the Advisory Board of the IEL, member of the New York State Bar Association, Mexican Association of Energy Economics (AMEE), US-Mexico Bar Association and the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation.
